ACA Calculation Issue – Update and Guidance

You were previously advised about TaxSlayer ACA calculation errors. To recap, some ACA calculations for the 24-hour period starting at 7:00 AM on Thursday, March 9th were incorrect. In addition, returns with SRP or PTC repayments that were processed through one of the TaxSlayer e-file servers from Friday, March 10th until approximately 10:30 AM on Thursday March 16th were not processed correctly.  TaxSlayer subsequently posted procedures for identifying the impacted returns on their blog.

AARP National has drafted procedures for fixing the incorrect returns and consolidated the instructions for both identifying and fixing the affected returns into a single document ACA Issues Scenarios and Guidance dated 3/28/2017.

We have also uploaded the document to our website – you can find it on the Reference Material page under the heading AARP Tax-Aide.

Please note you can now process and efile any ACA returns you were holding pending resolution of this issue. The above issue only affects returns efiled in the identified time periods.
